What is COPD?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common respiratory disease characterized by airflow restriction. It has the characteristics of high prevalence, high disability and death rate, long course of disease and treatment cycle, and high hospitalization rate in acute exacerbation period. The three main symptoms of COPD are dyspnea, chronic cough, and expectoration. About 62% of patients with moderate to severe COPD have changes in symptoms (such as dyspnea, cough, expectoration, wheezing or chest tightness) between a day and a week. In addition, serious complications, such as lung cancer, bronchiectasis, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, will have an important impact on the production of disease mortality. Smoking, occupational dust, chemicals and air pollution are the main risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in China.
